The Great Lakes Exhaust Chimney (GL-EC) serves as a duct which assists in the removal of hot air from a Great Lakes ES series enclosure in both 42" and 48" depths. By channeling hot air from the top of the cabinet, the Exhaust Chimney minimizes the amount of hot air which might re-circulate around or over the inside of a data center enclosure. When used with Great Lakes brush grommet kit (BGRK), filler panels, a solid top panel and rear door, the chimney then prevents hot air recirculation; thus maintaining separation between conditioned (cold) and exhaust (hot) air. This increases the efficiency of the Computer Room Air Conditioner (CRAC) & reduces operating costs. The Chimney can also be combined with other accessories like an air diverter to increase the cooling capability of the enclosure. When connected to a ducting system which returns hot air to the CRAC unit, the Chimney can help create a “Closed-Loop System”. A look at how the Great Lakes Exhaust Chimney works
The process of directing and removing hot air from the enclosure may be greatly enhanced through the use of a chimney fan tray, still further accelerating the amount of air which may be removed from the enclosure. The Great Lakes Chimney is designed to have 14" of adjustability, in two different ranges; from 18" to 32" and from 32" to 46". Adjustability is designed to be simple and tool-less.
