Air containment systems designed to maximize cooling predictability, capacity, and efficiency The APC Thermal Containment products maximize the effectiveness of InRow cooling solutions for low to high density racked IT loads. Available in rack or aisle level configurations, these products are designed to completely separate the supply and return air paths of the IT equipment. Ideal for any IT environment, the air separation ensures the warmest possible air is being returned to the InRow cooling units, which further increases the efficiency, capacity, and predictability of the cooling system. Thermal containment is available for 300mm, 600mm, 750mm wide NetShelter Racks, UPS/PDU, and InRow Cooling products. Front containment can also be added to the rack configuration for additional isolation and noise dampening. APC Thermal Containment Airflow Diagram
Deployment of high density loads in IT environments can create areas of unpredictable cooling performance. APC's Thermal Containment or Rack Air Containment is a modular system designed to work in conjunction with APC NetShelter SX enclosures and InRow cooling units to provide maximum cooling predictability, capacity, and efficiency. By attaching to the rear of the NetShelter SX, air exhausted from IT equipment is forced to pass through the cooling unit where it is conditioned. This ensures that warm exhaust air does not find its way back to the air inlets of installed servers. N+1 and 2N configurations allow for maximum availability.

The APC Thermal Containment offers many benefits: Availability:- Cable access brush strip- Blocks air from escaping through holes surrounding cabling.
- Redundancy Systems can be configured to included an additional InRow cooling unit to provide N+1 or 2N redundancy.
- Integrated pressure sensors- Pressure sensors in the InRow cooling units provide fan speed control for optimum system efficiency.
Convenience - Noise dampening- Containment of both front and rear provides reduction of noise caused by installed equipment.
- Plexiglass door inserts- Provides required air containment and a consistent look across the racks while allowing visibility to installed IT equipment.
- Easy to install- Innovative design allows for fast, easy installation by almost anybody.
Agility: - Ceiling tiles- Closes off the top of the hot aisle to prevent warm air from mixing with room air.
- One-way locking door- Secures the hot aisle while allowing for quick exit in case of emergency.
- Scaleable densities- Allows for higher cooling to be achieved by integrating the Hot Aisle Containment System with row-based architecture.
- Modular design- Modular design provides scalable solutions to add cooling as demand increases.
Adaptability - Modular design- Compatible with standard NetShelter SX racks, providing maximum system flexibility and scalability.
- Front containment- Ensures cold supply air is not captured by neighboring equipment.
- Rear containment- Ensures server exhaust air is returned to the InRow cooling units for maximum cooling predictability.
- One-way locking door- Secures the hot aisle while allowing for quick exit in case of emergency.
- Scaleable densities Allow higher density cooling to be achieved by integrating the hot aisle containment system with in-row architecture.
- Modular design- Modular design provides scalable solutions to add cooling as demand increases.
Total Cost of Ownership - Energy efficiency- Increases cooling capacity of the associated air conditioners without driving up power consumption.
